First off, sorry I have been off the grid for a while. I decided to take a break to focus on settling in/decorating our new home & getting ready for the baby. I’m definitely one of those people that likes to feel as prepared as possible & have everything just-so, even though it isn’t always realistic. I am so grateful for a patient husband who has hustled to make it happen. Speaking of which, we are officially on the 3 week countdown until baby! I also have literally been rotating the same few outfits in my wardrobe, which hasn’t inspired me to do fashion posts lately, but I will definitely be back with those once the baby is born & I can wear normal clothes again. As you may know, we moved into our new home in the end of April. We immediately started renovating to get as much done before the baby as possible. The baby’s room wasn’t too much work, we simply had new carpet installed & had the room/trim/curtains painted & updated the light. We were intending on installing a shiplap wall behind the crib, but opted against it due to the vent & configuration of the wall. These pictures are a bit dark because unfortunately his room doesn’t get the best light (which will be great for nap time), so it’s actually more vibrant in person. One of the first items we purchased for the baby was his furniture. Although it was pricey, we could not be more pleased with the quality. Better yet? It will grow with him! We wanted furniture that will work for years to come. (*Ignore sliders under the hutch dresser, we’re leaving them until Rob bolts the furniture to the wall) We actually purchased the toddler bed & baseboard components, so it will eventually be his big boy bed. We also have a nightstand in another room. I’m hoping he will have this furniture until he goes off to college. It was also made by a company in our home state of Michigan which we thought was cool. The hutch can actually be taken off the dresser to use as a changing table, but I wanted to use it as a bookshelf now so I kept it on. Diaper tables make me a bit nervous & I know you can’t use them once the baby is able to roll, so instead I opted for the changing pads that we can use on the floor. We also purchased the vintage planes at the same place we got his furniture. I knew I wanted an All-American nursery for him, so I tried to incorporate American symbols like the planes, flag & elephants. The bedding set took forever to come in, but it’s adorable in person. You can’t really see it in the picture, but the bedskirt is a textured indigo blue, with the indigo striped quilt (on glider) & the fitted sheet, I opted not to purchase the bumpers, since I don’t want those in the crib when he’s sleeping. I purchased a few sets of the various indigo & white pattern sheets. The blankets were also embroidered with his name, but I turned them around for these pictures until I share on here. (as you can guess it starts with a “B” though) I love when you can add personal touches to baby gear like that! I had originally wanted a Pottery Barn glider, but couldn’t justify spending the money on something that I will not keep in his room long term. I found THIS one on Wayfair & it looks just like the PB one I wanted. Since his nightstand was too big for the room size, we purchased the tree stump from Pier 1 that Rob white washed to match his room. Rob also spray painted the tin American flag & then distressed it to fit the rustic look we were trying to achieve. The growth chart is adorable in person & is personalized with his name, but we photoshopped it out. (I will share once he’s born). I also must share that the giraffe seen on his bookshelf is a Heart Beat Buddy. We were able to record the baby’s heartbeat at one of our appointments & put it in the stuffed animal to have forever. For some reason the giraffe reminded us of our dog, so that’s the one we chose. I must add that many of our nursery details were gifts from friends & family purchased off our registry, so I must say a HUGE thank you to everyone who made this nursery possible. As for the bathroom, Rob painted the cupboards, added new hardware & we also installed new sinks/counters, toilet, lights, mirrors (affordable & obsessed) & storage. It is definitely night & day from what it looked like when we first moved in. I stuck with the shades of blue theme in his bathroom as well. The final touch will be THIS roman shade. I plan on sharing my current makeup routine, my hospital outfit for delivery/what I’m packing for the hospital & my baby registry must-haves in the next few weeks before baby! Also, let me know if you would like to see more home decor posts in the future! Thanks so much for stopping by!
