We decided to have our shower at my mom’s home. She lives on a lake & recently had her basement redone, so I thought it was the perfect spot for a more intimate shower. It was so wonderful to celebrate with our closest friends & family & even extra special because I had a few out of town guests that I don’t see very often, including my cousins from California & my grandfather. Our theme was a bit rustic garden. We had mostly white details with greenery & rustic crates & frames set up on the tables. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a picture of the flowers, but my sister actually arranged hydrangeas and also white roses in mason jars as vases. I actually got the idea for the shower favors from one of my best friend’s baby showers. (Thanks Katie!) From day one, I started to get a lot of elephant baby items from people, so it kind of stuck & fit in really well with the baby’s All-American nursery, so I incorporated some elephant details in the invites, as well as, the shower favor. I found THIS template on Etsy & then purchased the mint EOS lip balms. For food, we opted for assorted finger sandwiches, basil cheese tortellini, fruit salad, asparagus wraps, a cheese platter & antipasto salad. Our caterer was awesome & had a whole drink set up for us as well, including iced tea, spa water, lemonade, pop, wine & sangria. Our family friend, Diane, who had made our gender reveal cake also made the cupcakes. They were a huge hit! She also creates cakes/baked goods for weddings & birthdays. If you live in the metro-Detroit area, you should definitely check her out HERE. I found the cupcake toppers on Etsy HERE. We were truly spoiled by our friend’s & family & couldn’t be more grateful. I’d also like to give a special thank you to my mom & sister for throwing this shower for us & for our friend/photographer, Rachel, for taking such beautiful shots! If you’re expecting, I plan on sharing a shower registry/hospital essentials post in the near future as well.

33 WEEK BUMP UPDATE:
DETAILS ON BABY:
The baby is currently around 19 inches & 4 1/2 pounds-as big as a honeydew melon.
HOW I’VE BEEN FEELING/BODY CHANGES:
I have still felt extremely blessed this pregnancy. I have definitely been more tired lately, but I try to take a nap during the day to help me stay productive. My stomach is getting bigger & I am carrying a bit lower now. (which has helped with shortness of breath) I have also noticed that my skin is less dry, relatively clear & feels more normal, but that may be due to the warm summer weather. As for emotions, I am feeling great aside from being anxious to finish our interior home renovations & get things in order for the baby.
I’m still loving cheese, peanut butter sandwiches, fruit & fruit snacks. I have also developed a few “guilty pleasure” cravings during the 3rd trimester. One of them is Panera’s broccoli cheddar soup. I was getting it close to every day for a while & also coke. Prior to being pregnant, I had stopped drinking soda, but recently I have been craving coke. I know it’s not the best for you, so I definitely limit myself to one a day at most & if I buy it for the house, I buy caffeine-free coke. Coke actually doesn’t have a lot of caffeine, so sometimes I will order one when I’m out to dinner. On a healthier note, thankfully, I have less of an aversion to meat these days. I eat a lot of chicken, burgers & nitrate-free all-beef hot dogs.
WHAT I’VE BOUGHT:
I have definitely purchased a lot recently. I bought many of the items that I didn’t receive from my registry, (post coming soon) as well as, some clothes for the baby. I purchased THIS diaper bag from Tradesy & got a great deal on it! My cousin had recommended it & it’s sold out in stores. I was able to find it brand new with tags & marked down. I had a great experience with the site & highly recommend it. I will probably sell some of my own bags on there in the near future. I also plan on buying THIS diaper bag purse organizer for my Neverfull for another diaper bag option. I just received his coming home outfit & ordered myself some hospital/postpartum comfy clothes, some of which are part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so I will make sure to share them below.
WHAT WE’RE DOING TO PREPARE & WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THESE NEXT FEW WEEKS:
I’m looking forward to getting everything organized & ready for the baby! I’ve actually spent the last 3 days washing/organizing all of his clothes. Rob is also in “nesting” mode, ensuring everything is done in the house & also putting together/setting up all of the various baby items. I am definitely excited to meet the baby, but want him to wait until he’s ready to come! Aside from organizing/shopping for last minute items, we have an all-day child birth class next Sunday. I still haven’t read any books & I think that may be for the best since every baby is different. I’ve mostly just been grilling my family & friends who have kids for advice. I have heard great things about “Baby Wise” though, so we will probably pick that book up. We have opted to do the cord blood/tissue option, so I just set all of that up! I will probably share a few more updates as we get closer to the due date! (due mid-September)
